Will Wood is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and filmmaker renowned for his enigmatic demeanor and avant-garde aesthetic. Among the several genres he pulls from are folk, pop, jazz, klezmer, and classical. Often labeled as a loner, Wood hides or twists facts about his personal life. As such, various books present contradicting narratives about his early life.
On his battles with mental illness and addiction, Wood is candid, though. Often, his songs revolve around the two. Wood recorded songs under the name William Sunshine as a member of the bands Jamface, Strange Thick, and A Verbal Equinox for several years before beginning a solo career.
Complementing artists Vater Boris, Mario Conte, Matt Berger, and Mike Bottiglieri, the artist started publishing songs under the moniker Will Wood in 2015. The Tapeworms are the name of his supporting group. In 2015, Wood released Everything Is A Lot, his first solo album. His candid songs, skilled musicianship, and high-energy, engaging live performances have won him much acclaim. In 2020, he was highlighted in the mockumentary concert film The Real Will Wood.
