Dallas Mavericks Information
The Dallas Mavericks, founded in 1980, are a professional basketball club in Dallas, Texas. The Mavericks are a Western Conference's Southwest Division member in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The squad shares the American Airlines Center with the NHL's Dallas Stars.
The Mavericks' biggest success occurred during the 2010–2011 National Basketball Association season. They won their lone NBA title, led by the famous Dirk Nowitzki, an upcoming Hall of Famer, and mentored by Rick Carlisle. In the NBA Finals, they fought a powerful Miami Heat squad, and their extraordinary determination and collaboration emerged as they won the championship in a dramatic six-game series.
Dirk Nowitzki is the franchise's face and one of the best offensive players in the history of the NBA. Nowitzki received multiple honors throughout his remarkable tenure with the Mavericks, including being named NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2007. Jason Kidd, a 2010-11 championship squad member, was named as the team's head coach on June 28, 2021.
In 2024, the Mavericks only had one pick in the NBA draft. After trading their second-round pick to Boston in a prior deal, the Dallas Mavericks had the final pick in the draft, which is 58th overall, because of the agreement. In the 2024 NBA Draft, the Mavericks were selected with the 58th overall pick. No. 51 overall, Melvin Ajinca. As a professional for the first time in 2023–24, Ajinca is a mainstay for Saint-Quentin BB of France's top-tier LNB Pro A league.
The Dallas Mavericks wrapped up the 2024-25 season with a 39-43 record, taking 3rd in the Southwest Division and 10th in the Western Conference. They split their Play-In Tournament games, defeating Sacramento 120-106 on April 16 but losing 106-120 to Memphis on April 18, missing the playoffs. A significant February 2 trade saw them acquire Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris from the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a first-round pick. Kyrie Irving sat out briefly with a shoulder issue but returned for the Play-In. Dallas plans to bolster their defense around Doncic and Irving for a better shot in 2025-26.
