Vancouver Canucks Information
The Vancouver Canucks, or "Nucks" as they're more commonly called, are a professional ice hockey team. They are a part of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the NHL and call Rogers Arena their home ice. Patrik Allvin is the general manager, Jim Rutherford is the president of hockey operations, and Rick Tocchet is the head coach. Rogers Arena is where the team plays its home games.
After the league restarted play in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Canucks defeated the Minnesota Wild in the 2020 Qualifying Round to win their first postseason series in nine years. After sweeping the St. Louis Blues in six games in the first round, the Vegas Golden Knights eliminated them from the playoffs in seven games. Fin the Orca is a killer whale (Orca) mascot for the Vancouver Canucks.
Following the San Jose Sharks' victory against the St. Louis Blues in March 2024, the Canucks finally secured a playoff berth in 2020.
With a 4-1 victory against the Calgary Flames in their final home game of the regular season, the Canucks secured the Pacific Division title on April 16, 2024. This was the first franchise division triumph for the Canucks since the 2012-13 season.
Forward Ty Mueller, who the Canucks originally drafted 105th overall in the fourth round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, has inked a three-year entry-level deal with the team. In June, Filip Hronek, a defenseman, also inked an 8-year deal with an AAV of $7.25 million.
