Florida Panthers Information
The Florida Panthers are an ice hockey team, a member of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference from the NHL. The team played their home games at the Miami Arena until 1998 when they moved to the Amerant Bank Arena.
Since the Panthers play their home games in Sunrise, Florida, they are the National Hockey League club that travels the southernmost distance. Since 1996, the company known as Bally Sports Florida (formerly known as SportsChannel and Fox Sports Florida) has had the rights to broadcast the team's games locally in Florida.
The Charlotte Checkers of the AHL and the Florida Everblades of the Eastern Conference Hockey League are the Panthers' principal minor league affiliates.
The Panthers debuted in the NHL during the 1993–1994 season. They set a new record for the most points scored by an expansion team in the league's inaugural season that year until the Vegas Golden Knights broke it in the 2017–18 campaign.
The team has taken part in the Stanley Cup Finals twice. The first time was in 1996, when the Colorado Avalanche defeated them, and the second was in 2023 when the Vegas Golden Knights defeated them. Between 1996 and 2022, the Panthers were only successful in advancing to the postseason of the Stanley Cup tournament seven times, and they did not take first place in a postseason series until 2022.
The 2024 Stanley Cup Finals series between the Edmonton Oilers and the Carolina Panthers ended with the Oilers losing the next three games despite taking a 3-0 lead. On home ice, the Panthers prevailed against the Oilers 2-1 in Game 7.
With this victory, the franchise finally won the Stanley Cup after 30 years of existence. Forward MacKenzie Entwistle has inked a one-year, two-way deal with the Florida Panthers, according to a recent announcement by Bill Zito, the club's president of hockey operations and general manager.
Having won the Stanley Cup, the Florida Panthers have had several roster changes in the preseason of 2024. To offset the loss of important blueliners like Brandon Montour and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, they have taken a "defense by committee" stance.
While the goalie situation finds Spencer Knight vying with Chris Driedger for the backup position behind Sergei Bobrovsky, Dmitry Kulikov and Nate Schmidt are filling in crucial positions. The Panthers are resolved to remain competitive and defend their title, notwithstanding roster changes.
