Toronto Blue Jays Information
The Toronto Blue Jays is a Canadian professional baseball team. The team was established in 1977. They have been playing their home games at Rogers Centre. Their uniform color schemes are white, red, navy blue, and royal blue. The current majority owner of the Blue Jays is Rogers Communications. John Schneider is the team's manager, Ross Atkins is the team's general manager, and Mark Shapiro is the team's president. The blue alternate uniform was introduced by the Toronto Blue Jays on January 18, 2020.
Due to the Canadian government banning baseball games during the pandemic, the Toronto Blue Jays announced on July 24, 2020, that they would play the majority of their home games at Sahlen Field, the home of their Triple-A affiliate Buffalo Bison. The national anthem, "O Canada," was performed in English, French, and Anishinaabemowin on September 30, 2021, as part of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
In 2020 and 2022, they made the playoffs as a wild card team. The Blue Jays have a total of 3,598 victories and 3,627 defeats (.498) between 1977 and 2022. Former Montreal Expos radio announcer Jacques Doucet is retiring in 2022 after calling Blue Jays games for TVA Sports since 2011. However, starting in 2022, Sportsnet will be able to air its own broadcasts of Blue Jays playoff games because to an agreement with MLB.
The 2024 season of the Toronto Blue Jays will mark the team's 48th MLB season and 33rd consecutive full season (and 35th overall) played at Rogers Centre. The team's current record is 17–20 (.459).
As of this year's campaign, Matt Hague is an assistant hitting coach for the Blue Jays. John Lannan joined the Blue Jays as a mental performance coach.
