The Lion King Information
The Lion King is a thrilling and exciting theater musical. It is written by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi, with music and lyrics by Elton John and Tim Rice and contributions from Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor, and Hans Zimmer. The film was inspired by the same name: 1994 Walt Disney Animated Features production. The musical, directed by Taymor, uses gigantic hollow puppets and actors dressed as animals. Disney Theatrical Productions is responsible for putting on the show.
The world premiere of the musical took place in Basel, Switzerland, on March 12, 2015, and ran through October 11, 2015. In 2022, the musical made its third trip throughout the continent of North America. The Rafiki Tour officially kicked off on October 26, 2017. Pride Rock, the stampede, and the grasslands are just a few examples of visual features that emerge out of the stage floor in the Broadway production that has been adapted to less expensive designs for touring versions.
The show's first trip to the Middle East was announced on June 20, 2022, and it had a short run (November 16–December 10) at Abu Dhabi's Etihad Arena. The Lion King's weekly gross of $4.3 million on January 1, 2023, was the largest in Broadway history.
