Anaheim Ducks Information
The Anaheim Ducks are a hockey team based in Anaheim, CA. They play their home games at Honda Center and are a part of the Western Conference of the NHL.
Named after the 1992 Disney film The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, the team was formed by Walt Disney in 1993. Before the 2006–07 season, the Disney franchise was purchased by Henry and Susan Samueli, who rebranded the team as the Anaheim Ducks along with then-general manager Brian Burke.
Before a change in ownership in 2006, the squad had eggplant and jade as its colors. Their previous colors of orange, black, and gold have been replaced with white for the away jersey. The alternative jersey, on the other hand, is primarily orange. The team's adoption of orange as a primary color is a nod to Anaheim's home county, Orange County.
The Ducks debuted a purple and jade third jersey with the Mighty Ducks logo and striping pattern for their silver anniversary season (2018–19). It kept many of the first jersey's attributes.
The Ducks fired Carlyle and appointed Bob Murray as temporary head coach for 2019. However, they missed the NHL playoffs again. That was the Ducks' second postseason miss since 2002–03. The club hired Dallas Eakins as their 10th head coach on June 17, 2019. They announced Pat Verbeek as general manager on February 3, 2022. The club replaced Eakins with Greg Cronin in 2023 after he resigned as head coach.
March 2024 saw the Ducks' sixth straight season out of the postseason hunt after the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-1 and the St. Louis Blues defeated them 4-2.
In 2024, the Anaheim Ducks rebranded themselves significantly throughout the offseason. On June 24, after beginning to tease it on June 14, the Ducks finally unveiled their new logo.
Top prospects like Leo Carlsson and Jamie Drysdale have dominated the Anaheim Ducks' 2024 preseason, which has been about youth development. Although the squad is rebuilding, how its younger players have performed gives optimism for the future.
