Chris Stapleton Information
Chris Stapleton (April 15, 1978) is an American record producer, guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky. Stapleton was raised in the rural community of Staffordsville, Kentucky, between the city of Paintsville and Paintsville Lake. He was the class valedictorian at Johnson Central High School. He also played football at that school. Stapleton continued his education at Vanderbilt University for one year, majoring in engineering before dropping out.
In 2021, it was announced that Stapleton would be a guest performer on "I Bet You Think About Me" from Taylor Swift's second re-recorded album, Red (Taylor's Version). Stapleton covered "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica for the September 2021 release of the charity tribute album The Metallica Blacklist. On Tom Morello's 2021 album entitled The Atlas Underground Fire, Stapleton contributed to the writing and performance of the tune "The War Inside." He worked with Morello, guitarist for Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave.
At the 2021 Country Music Association Awards, he won Male Vocalist of the Year for the fourth time. At the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards, he won Male Artist of the Year for the third time. Together with Patty Loveless, he sang "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" at the latter. Stapleton was ranked 170th in Rolling Stone's list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time in 2023.
