Tennessee Titans is an American professional football team based in Nashville, Tennessee. The team competes in the American Football Conference (AFC) South Division in the National Football League (NFL). The franchise was established on August 3, 1959. The team started playing in 1960 in Houston, Texas, as they were selected as Houston Oilers. The Titans joined the NFL as a part of the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
The Titans play their home games in Nissan Stadium in Nashville. The team is under the ownership of Amy Adams Strunk, and Mike Vrabel is the head coach. Jon Robinson performs his duties as a general manager, and Susie Adams Smith, along with Amy Adams Strunk, is part of the chairman's cabinet.
The official mascot of the group is T-Rac. The official color theme for the Tennessee Titans uniform is white, red, silver, navy, and Titans blue. Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Jacksonville Jaguars are the long-standing rivalries for the Titans.
The Titans have only participated in one Super Bowl, played at the end of the 1999 NFL season. In their lone Super Bowl appearance (XXXIV), the Titans fell to the St. Louis Rams 23-16. They experienced their best years as the Houston Oilers in the late 2010s and from 2016 to 2021. They had six straight winning seasons and four postseason appearances during this time. The team won 25 play-offs, with 2021 being the latest. It also won 11 division championships and one conference championship (AFC).
The Titans enter 2025, seeking to rebound from a disappointing 6–11 finish in the previous season. With Brian Callahan now in as head coach, there’s a fresh approach in place. Will Levis is expected to lead the offense again, and to support him, Tennessee drafted standout tackle Joe Alt in the first round to anchor the line. They also added wide receiver Jalen McMillan to give Levis another option downfield. Defensively, the Titans brought in linebacker Cedric Gray to help in the middle. They’ll open the season at home against Jacksonville.
