Ottawa Senators Information
The Ottawa Senators are an ice hockey team based in Ottawa. Their full name is the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club. Still, they are more commonly referred to as the Sens. They are a part of the Eastern Conference in the NHL, and their home arena is the Canadian Tire Centre, formerly the Palladium.
The organization aggressively pursued a way out of its rebuilding phase leading up to the 2022–23 season when it acquired forwards Alex DeBrincat, Claude Giroux, and goaltender Cam Talbot. The squad has given both Josh Norris and Tim Stuetzle eight-year extensions. The team hired an investment banker in New York City in November 2022 to sell the franchise.
Bell Sensplex, a CA$25.6 million partnership with the City of Ottawa, is the Senators' practice facility. There are three NHL-sized rinks, one Olympic-sized rink, and a fieldhouse at this facility, which opened in 2004 to the southeast of the Canadian Tire Centre. It hosts Senators practices and the annual Bell Capital Cup tournament for the minor hockey league.
After a 4-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils in the 76th game of the season in April 2024, the Senators could not make it back to the Stanley Cup playoffs for the seventh consecutive season.
Michael Andlauer became the new owner of the Senators for this season. Travis Green, a former player and head coach for the Vancouver Canucks, was named the Senators' new head coach on May 7th, following the season.
