The Duke Blue Devils participate as a member of the ACC in NCAA Division I collegiate basketball on behalf of Duke University. Currently led by Jon Scheyer, the squad has the fourth-most victories of any NCAA men's basketball program. The first player from Duke to win National Player of the Year was Dick Groat in 1952. 1953, Duke moved from the Southern Conference to the ACC as a founding member.

Many consider Duke-North Carolina the greatest rivalry in college basketball and one of the best in all North American sports. On March 11, 2023, he made history by being the first person to win the ACC Tournament as a player and a coach. The Blue Devils' 200-season run in the AP Top 25 (from 1996-2007) ranks third all-time, behind the 231-year run by Kansas (from 2009-2020) and the 21-year run by UCLA (1966-1980).
