Miami Marlins Information
The Miami Marlins play major league baseball in the United States. The Marlins originated from Miami, Florida, and play in the National League (NL) East division of Major League Baseball (MLB). LoanDepot Park is the home field for the team. The Florida Marlins baseball team debuted in the 1993 season as an expansion squad. Joe Robbie Stadium was the original home of the Marlins and was also shared with the NFL's Miami Dolphins.
The Marlins had a 31-29 record and second place in the National League East during the 2020 abbreviated season. They swept the Chicago Cubs in two games in the Wild Card Series. The Braves of Atlanta swept Miami in the National League Division Series. When the Marlins announced hiring Kim Ng as general manager on November 13, 2020, they made history as the first American major-level sports league club to recruit a woman to an executive position.
Derek Jeter's resignation as Marlins CEO was announced on February 28, 2022. The Marlins opened "Sandy's Beach" in LoanDepot Park's Section 22 for fans of club starter Sandy Alcantara on July 16, 2022, making them the second NL team to do so. When Sandy pitches on certain days, the fans in this area, located around the third base line, dress like they're heading to the beach as a tribute to the city's famous beaches. The Marlins will be the only MLB team with no retired numbers by 2023.
This 2024 season is the 32nd overall for the Miami Marlins MLB club and the 13th overall as a National League team. Currently, they have a record of 11-32 (.256). In May, Marlins manager Don Mattingly recently decided to keep another position player on the field. If Tim Anderson experiences discomfort in his lower back, Gray, who hit ten home runs for the Jumbo Shrimp, will step in as a backup shortstop.
Bride, who the Marlins got in a cash trade with the A's on February 7, has been in and out of the Majors and Minors since he debuted in 2022. With five consecutive starts following the Trade Deadline, the 28-year-old Bride has won seven games.
