More than 38,000 people attended the April 5, 2021, Texas Rangers game, making it the first U.S. sporting event to sell out since the pandemic began. Texas's lack of mask regulations affected the decision to run at full capacity. The Rangers had a 4,650-5,146 (.475) record from the 1961 to the 2022 in the regular season.
Nationals Park in Washington, DC, features a Washington Hall of Stars exhibit honoring former players, including Chuck Hinton and Frank Howard (although Howard played for the Rangers in 1972). The Texas Rangers' mascot is named "Rangers Captain." He was unveiled in 2002 and is a palomino horse in the team's attire. He has jersey number 72 to commemorate the year that the Rangers moved to Arlington, 1972. He has many team threads to accommodate the squad's many colorways.
It is the 64th season of the Texas Rangers franchise overall, the 53rd season in Arlington as the Rangers, and the fifth season at Globe Life Field, where they will play their home games. They are coming into the season off a World Series victory, the first of their franchise's existence. The current game record is 22–21 (.512).
The Rangers signed Mahle to a two-year, $22 million contract this past summer. Mahle had Tommy John surgery in May of 2023 as a Twin. After making five starts for Minnesota in 2023 with a 3.16 ERA, the injury ended what had been a promising season. After an eternity in rehabilitation, he was cleared to play for the Rangers in August.
