Santana is an American rock band founded in San Francisco in 1966. Current members include Carlos Santana (lead guitar, vocals, and percussion), Benny Rietveld (bass), Andy Vargas (vocals), Karl Perazzo (percussion), Paoli Mejias (percussion), Tommy Anthony (rhythm guitar), David K. Mathews (keyboards), Cindy Blackman Santana (drums), and Ray Greene (vocals).
Carlos Santana is the founder of the band. In 1969, the group signed with Columbia Records for their debut album. Throughout their time together, Santana had various lineups.
Santana's first album was released on August 30, 1969, and "Abraxas", the band's second album, was released on September 23, 1970. The music of Joe Zawinul and Miles Davis has been highly inspirational for the band. Santana released Caravanserai, their fourth studio album, on October 11, 1972. Even though the band's lineup had changed, this album peaked at No.8 on the Billboard 200.
After four studio albums in a row, Santana finally released a certified gold album. It came out in 1973 with the title "Welcome". On the Billboard 200, Welcome peaked at position No.25. Before finding what they were good at, the band tried various musical approaches.
The latest 2021 songs, "Move" (issued on August 18) and "She's Fire" (released on August 20) from Santana's upcoming new album "Blessings and Miracles" were revealed on August 18, and the album's release date was set for October 15, 2021, via BMG Entertainment.
