Charlie Otto Puth Jr. (December 2, 1991) is an American singer and songwriter. He was born in Rumson, New Jersey. His YouTube music videos became wildly popular and catapulted him to prominence. After appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and gaining recognition as a songwriter and producer, Puth signed with the Eleveneleven label in 2011.
In 2015, Puth released his first song, "Marvin Gaye" (with Meghan Trainor), after signing with Atlantic Records and Artist Partner Group. Later that year, he collaborated with Wiz Khalifa on the single "See You Again," which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for 12 weeks in a row, was certified 11x Platinum, and earned him a Golden Globe Award nomination, three Grammy Award nominations, including Song of the Year, and others.
Nine Track Mind, Charlie Puth's first studio album, was released in 2016 to lukewarm critical and financial reviews. The single "We Don't Talk Anymore" from the album reached nine on the Billboard 100 and featured guest vocals by Selena Gomez. The RIAA has recognized his 2017 singles "Attention" (which peaked at #5) and "How Long" (which peaked at #2) as 4 and 2 Platinum, respectively. Voicenotes (2018), his second studio album, featured both songs and was well-received by critics and fans, reaching as high as number four on the Billboard 200.
