Chicago White Sox Information
The Chicago White Sox is an American professional baseball team. The team was established in 1894. They have been playing their home games at Guaranteed Rate Field since 1991. Their uniform color scheme includes white, silver, and black. Jerry Reindsdorf is the team's principal owner, whereas Pedro Grifol is their manager. Since 2004, the official mascot for the Sox has been SouthPaw. From 1900 to 2022, the White Sox had an overall win-loss record of 9,492–9,390 (.503).
On April 14, 2021, against the Cleveland Indians, Carlos Rodon threw the franchise's 20th no-hitter. Until Roberto Pérez was hit by a pitch and advanced to second base in the ninth inning, Rodon retired the first 25 batters he faced. First baseman Jose Abreu made a miraculous play to save him.
On August 12, 2021, the first-ever Field of Dreams game occurred in Dyersville, Iowa, pitting the Chicago White Sox against the New York Yankees. The White Sox won the game, and the credit goes to a walk-off home run by Tim Anderson. For the White Sox, it was their 15th walk-off home run overall and their first against the Yankees since Shoeless Joe Jackson (portrayed in the movie Field of Dreams) on July 20, 1919. With their victory over the Indians on September 23, 2021, the White Sox secured first place in the American League Central Division since 2008.
The 2024 season in Chicago's south side will be long enough. The 2024 season will focus on the Front Office's willingness to go to extreme lengths.
Along with their poorest season since 1970, long-time top executives Rick Hahn and Ken Williams were fired, and Chris Getz was promoted to general manager in their stead. The next step is an unspecified rebuilding project; even in the poorest baseball division, they are not expected to compete.
