Philadelphia Eagles Information
The Philadelphia Eagles play professional American football. When the Frankford Yellow Jackets went bankrupt in 1933, a syndicate led by Bert Bell obtained the rights to a new NFL franchise in Philadelphia, and the new team was named the Philadelphia Eagles.
Since their inception, the Eagles have gone to the postseason 29 times, won 16 division titles (including 12 in the NFC East), and played in and won three of the four NFL Championship Games played before the league's merger (1948, 1949, and 1960). The team also reached and won the Super Bowl four times, most recently in 2017.
Ever since the 1999 season, every Philadelphia Eagles home game has been sold out, placing them among the greatest teams in the NFL in terms of attendance. Chuck Bednarik, Bell, Bob Brown, Harold Carmichael, Brian Dawkins, Sonny Jurgensen, Greasy Neale, Tommy McDonald, Pete Pihos, Norm Van Brocklin, Steve Van Buren, Dick Vermeil, and Reggie White are just some of the Eagles alums who have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as of 2023.
The Eagles are now owned by Jeffrey Lurie, who paid Norman Braman $195 million to purchase the team on May 6, 1994. As of 2023, Forbes estimates the Eagles to be worth $4.9 billion, good enough for 10th place among NFL franchises.
In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Eagles selected Quinyon Mitchell, CB, from Toledo as the 22nd overall draft pick.
