Jerome Allen Seinfeld (April 29, 1954) is an American writer, actor, producer, and stand-up comedian. When his parents arrived in America in 1917, they claimed Turkish citizenship because Syria was then part of the Ottoman Empire. Seinfeld was raised in Massapequa, New York, and graduated from Long Island's Massapequa High School. He enrolled at the State University of New York at Oswego before transferring to Queens College of the City University of New York, which took place after his second year. He earned a degree in communications and theatre from Queens College in 1976.
Jerry Seinfeld became a household name in 1989 when his TV show Seinfeld first aired. The show quickly became one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, running for nine seasons.
