Cleveland Cavaliers Information
The Cleveland Cavaliers (also known as the Cavs) are one of the top American National professional basketball teams. The Cavs are based in Cleveland, Ohio. The team plays in the NBA as a part of the Central Division of the Eastern Conference. The team was established in 1970, and from that year until 1974, it called Cleveland Arena its home field. Later, in 1974, the Cavaliers relocated to the newer Richfield Coliseum. The Rockets have called Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse home since 1994.
Nic Barlage is the CEO of the team, and Mike Gansey is the general manager. J. B. Bickerstaff coaches the team.
The Cavaliers introduced a new logo and color scheme for the 2022–23 NBA season, ditching navy blue and bringing back the metallic gold they had used from 1980–1983 and again from 2003–2010. The "City Edition" uniform for the upcoming 2022–2023 season pays tribute to the Cleveland Metroparks with a white jersey, tan numbers and letters, and light blue trim.
Moondog and Sir C.C. are both recognized as mascots for the Cavaliers. Alan Freed, a DJ on a Cleveland radio station who went by the moniker "Moondog" and is credited with popularizing the term "rock and roll," was the inspiration for the former.
On October 25, 2023, news broke that Myles Garrett, a defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, had bought a small share in the Cavaliers. Starting as the Eastern Conference’s no. 4 seed, the Cleveland Cavaliers would face the Orlando Magic in the 2024 NBA Playoffs. With their 108-91 victory over the Houston Rockets on March 26, 2023, the Cavaliers ensured their place in the NBA playoffs. This was the first NBA playoff appearance for the team since 2018. They have won 48 games out of 82 in the 2023-24 season.
