John J. Mellencamp (October 7, 1951) is an American singer-songwriter He has also been known as Johnny Cougar, John Cougar, and John Cougar Mellencamp. His infectious style of traditional instrument-heavy heartland rock has made him famous. The Rock & Roll and Songwriters Hall of Fame inducted him in 2008 and 2018, respectively.
