BYU Cougars Mens Basketball Information
Brigham Young University's men's basketball team competes in NCAA Division I basketball games. They are known as the BYU Cougars. Because it was founded in 1902, the squad has participated in 29 NCAA tournaments and has won 27 conference titles, three conference tournament championships, and two National Invitational Tournaments (1951 and 1966).
This organization is presently a member of the Big 12 Conference. Initially, the team participated in the Mountain West Conference from 1999 to 2011; then, they competed in the West Coast Conference for twelve seasons.
After receiving unanimous approval from the Big 12 Conference on September 10, 2021, BYU's application for membership was accepted, and the university became an official conference member for the 2023–24 season.
Pope made significant changes to the club throughout the offseason, even though it was anticipated that the 2020–21 season would be a rebuilding year because Childs, Haws, and Toolson would be graduating.
Alongside Alex Barcello, a senior guard who was returning to the team, graduate transfers Brandon Averette and Matt Haarms were also present. As a result of finishing the regular season with a record of 20–6, the team qualified for the NCAA tournament as the sixth seed. This was the squad's first trip in the tournament since the 2014–15 season.
