Widowspeak Information
Widowspeak is an American indie rock band. The current lineup consists of James Jano (drums), Willy Muse (bass guitar), Robert Earl Thomas (lead guitar), and Molly Hamilton (rhythm guitar and vocals). Molly Hamilton, a native of Tacoma, Washington, and Michael Stasiak, a friend she has known since they were kids, started the band in Brooklyn in 2010. Robert Earl Thomas, a guitarist, was introduced to the group, and they started rehearsing. Widowspeak, the band's debut album, was widely praised when it was released in August 2011.
In one of American Horror Story episodes, the song "Harsh Realm" was played. For their upcoming tours, the band hired bassist Pamela Garavano-Coolbaugh in 2012. Stasiak and Garavano-Coolbaugh left the band after the first album's long tour. Widowspeak started producing Almanac, their second full-length album, at the start of 2012. Producer Kevin McMahon, who has also worked on the recordings for Swans and Real Estate, produced Almanac. Late in the 2012 summer, the recording sessions were held in a century-old barn in the Hudson River Valley.
The release day for Almanac was January 22, 2013. Widowspeak was listed as one of Fuse TV's 30 musicians to see at SXSW in March 2013. Widowspeak issued the album All Yours in 2015. Expect the Best, the fourth album, was created at Marcata Recording in New Paltz, New York, and it was released in August 2017. Molly Hamilton wrote the songs in Tacoma, Washington, her hometown. It represents a return to their original tones.
