WASP Information
W.A.S.P. is an American heavy metal band. The current lineup consists of Blackie Lawless, Doug Blair, Mike Duda, and Aquiles Priester. They came up via the Los Angeles heavy metal scene of the 1980s. Even though the band's fame peaked in that decade, they are still active in the music industry. W.A.S.P. became famous for its shock rock sound, stage presence, and song lyrics. The RIAA awarded them gold certification for their debut album (1984) and second album (1985), W.A.S.P. and The Last Command, respectively, and their total record sales have surpassed twelve million.
From October to December of 2022, the band made their long-awaited return to North America with a tour featuring Armored Saint as support and Michael Schenker on certain dates. While touring the United States, Lawless admitted during a Q&A that he and the band utilize backing tracks during live performances. The pandemic scenario in Europe and Lawless' "extensive back injuries" caused further tour dates to be rescheduled to spring of 2023 and again to 2024. The rescheduling affected both European and North American concerts.
