Voxtrot Information
Voxtrot is an American indie pop band. The group's current lineup consists of Jared Van Fleet, Mitch Calvert, Matt Simon, Jason Chronis, and Ramesh Srivastava. Voxtrot was founded in the early 2000s by Ramesh Srivastava, a singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas. Before returning to Texas, Srivastava left Berklee College of Music to attend the University of Glasgow.
Raised by Wolves was released in July 2005, and the band then went on a nationwide tour, winning praise from outlets including Spin and Pitchfork. Raised by Wolves was praised by Spin as "...a stunning mini-collection of John Hughes-heyday paeans, twitchy pop, and surging Strokes-y dancefloor fillers." On April 4, 2006, a second five-song EP titled Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives was released.
On November 17 that year, they released the EP Your Biggest Fan, featuring three songs. The Los Angeles Times announced on October 26, 2006, that the band had entered the studio to begin work on their first full-length release. The band originally wanted Stephen Street, who has produced albums for The Smiths and Blur, to handle album production, but Street was unavailable.
