Vallejo Information
Vallejo is an American rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Alex Geismar, Bruce Castleberry, Omar Vallejo, Alejandro Vallejo, and A.J. Vallejo. The band relocated to Austin, Texas, in January of 1995 and spent the next year playing a regular Wednesday engagement at the famed Steamboat club. They were discovered by TVT Records and signed for their first major label release, 1997's Shining Sun.
Thanks to the album's success, Vallejo could tour the country and establish himself as a "dangerous live act," as defined by AustinLive. The following year, in 1998, Beautiful Life was released on the TVT label to a more muted response because TVT decided not to promote the album, likely because of the lackluster response to the album's lead single, which featured an odd artistic pairing of the band and DJ Hurricane of the Beastie Boys. Somewhat sadly, the song "Snake in the Grass" was featured in two episodes of the popular HBO series True Blood, which led to a resurgence in its global popularity ten years later.
After seeing Vallejo perform a High-End Lighting presentation at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida, in 2000, Miami producer Emilio Estefan signed Vallejo on the spot to release Into the New on Sony. The album was met with lukewarm reviews, but it scored well on the Rock Charts, which led to invitations to tour with such acts as Stone Temple Pilots, Linkin Park, Fuel, Disturbed, Blues Traveler, Matchbox Twenty, and The Black Crowes.
