Tierra Umi Wilson (February 9, 1999) is an American singer and songwriter. He was born in Seattle, Washington. He is professionally known by his stage name, Umi. At age four or five, UMI began keeping a songwriting journal. She was a member of the track team and the DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) organization at Maple Valley's Tahoma High School throughout her high school years. She began writing to instrumental music she found on YouTube when she was a high school senior.
UMI dropped five singles in 2017 before releasing their debut EP, Interlude, which only had four songs. Because of this, we were featured on Spotify's Best of 2017: Fresh Finds playlist. In Los Angeles, she was the opening act for rap star ODIE. "Remember Me" is UMI's best-selling single to date. There have been over 33 million views of her videos on YouTube and 117 million listens of her music on Spotify. UMI released a music video for "Remember Me," showcasing their commitment to universalism with depictions of interracial and gay couples.
Umi embarked on her first solo tour in support of her debut album Forest in the City, which dropped on May 26, 2022, and includes the singles "Moonlit Room," "Whatever U Like," and "Sorry." UMI has said that Frank Ocean, D'Angelo, Jhené Aiko, Erykah Badu, and SZA are among her main musical influences.
