Tora Tora Information
Tora Tora is a glam metal band formed in 1985 in Memphis, Tennessee. The group's current lineup consists of John Patterson, Keith Douglas, Patrick Francis, and Anthony Corder. Tora is derived from the Japanese language, which means "Tiger." The band's previous name had been "Free Beer" as well.
Tora Tora signed a record deal with A&M Records, and soon after that, they recorded their debut album in 1989 entitled Surprise! Attack. The album reached number 47 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The album featured a few hit singles such as "Guilty" and "Walkin' Shoes." Later that year, another single from the album "Dancing with a Gypsy" was added to the film's soundtrack, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. The group was also the first band from Memphis with a music video on MTV.
Tora Tora released their second album entitled Wild America in 1992. The album reached number 134 on the Billboard charts but could not sell well. Overall, the band learned some mature steps towards songwriting through this album.
In 1994, Tora Tora recorded its third album, Revolution Day. The album couldn't be released due to the label restructuring. In 2011, the band eventually released the album. In 2019, they released their fourth album entitled, Bastards of Beale. Notable singles of Tora Tora include "Faith Healer," "Dead Man's Hand," and "Phantom Rider."
