Thumpasaurus Information
Thumpasaurus is an American band based in Los Angeles. The band consists of five young musicians who take hugely divergent influences and channel them into something unique. All members of the band are music and film students from the University of Southern California. They have honed their unique take on music inspirations through multiple live appearances on Los Angeles insane house party circuit.
Thumpasaurus offers its unique punk and funk stew. The band sounds like Prince, Talking Heads, Devo, Morphine, Funkadelic/Parliament, James Chance, Beefheart, and Zappa. They also incorporate the sound of some heavy metal rock, some light opera references, free jazz, and musical theatre.
In 2018, Thumpasaurus saw the release of an EP under legendary house producer Justin Jay. The EP primarily consisted of remixed Thump songs and was released through Jay’s Fantastic Voyage label. Many DJs have played the EP in the house and techno scenes around the United States.
Thumpasaurus debuted a live dance music opera at their first-ever headlining show in Los Angeles. They also released their debut album during a sold-out headlining show in Troubadour. Right after this, they went to Edinburgh and played up to three shows a day at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
