The Why Store is an American rock band formed in Muncie, Indiana, in the late 1980s. The lineup of the group includes Christ Shaffer (lead vocals and guitar), Troy Seele (lead guitar), Michael David Smith (guitar), Gregory (Gardner) Shock (bass and background vocals), Charlie Bushor (drums), Jeff Pedersen (keyboards), Graigory Omar Adams (drummer), John Gray (drums and background vocals), Dan Hunt (bass and background vocals), Benito Dibartoli (lead guitar), Harvey Moesteller (lead guitar), Mikie Mo (merchandise), Jerome Reiskamp, and Deric Rush.
Greg Gardner and Michael David Smith formed the Why Store when they were studying at Ball State University. The group turned into a small band that began playing a few gigs around Emerald City. The band independently recorded the album entitled “Welcome to the Why Store," and the following year, the band recorded “Inside the Why Store.” Both albums reached the peak of regional success.
After a few successful releases, The Why Store started grabbing the attention of major record labels. They eventually signed their first major-label record deal with MCA subsidiary called Way Cool Music and released their self-titled LP in 1996.
The Why Store has released a few hit singles throughout its career such as Lack Of Water (1996) and Father (1996). They also released two live albums entitled Live at Midnight (1999) and Live at The Slippery Noodle (2016). The Why Store has released a few more notable studio albums, including Two Beasts (1998), Life on Planet Six Ball (2000), and VIM (2011).
