The Rainmakers Information
The Rainmakers is an American rock band founded in 1983 from Kansas City, Missouri. The group is fronted by Bob Walkenhorst, who had a small string of hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s in Europe and the U.S. The current lineup of the band consists of Bob Walkenhorst (vocals, guitars), Pat Tomek (drums), Steve Phillips (guitars, vocals), Rich Ruth (bass vocals), Michael Bliss (bass, vocals), and Jeff Porter (guitars, vocals). The Rainmakers were initially founded as a three-piece bar band called ‘Steve, Bob, and Rich.’ Under this name, the band released an album, Balls.
The band changed its name to the current one when they were signed to Polygram by Peter Lubin. The group released its self-titled 1986 debut album and received positive reviews in the U.S. entertainment media. The Rainmakers’ second album was their 1987’s Tornado, which peaked at number 116 on the U.S. chart. Some other notable albums by the band are The Good News and the Bad News (1989), Flirting with the Universe (1994), Skin (1996), Steve, Bob & Rich - Balls (2006), 25 on (2011), Monster Movie (2014), and Cover Band (2015).
The Rainmakers also released two live albums entitled Oslo-Wichita LIVE (April 1990) and Thanksgiving 2011 (December 2011). The only compilation album by the band is The Best of the Rainmakers (1993). A few of the hit singles that charted high include “Let My People Go-Go,” “Snakedance,” “Spend It on Love,” and “Another Guitar.”
