The Dodos Information
The Dodos are an indie rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Logan Kroeber (drums and percussion) and Meric Long (vocals, guitar, banjo, piano, and keyboards). Meric Long, a solo singer-songwriter who had been gigging steadily in San Francisco, was introduced to Logan Kroeber by a common friend (a college buddy of Long's who happened to be Kroeber's cousin). The Dodos began playing music in 2005. The Dodos are a two-piece band with distinct personalities.
In March 2006, Long self-released Dodo Bird, a solo EP on which he played all the instruments. Long and Kroeber met and began playing together while performing songs from this album. They combined Kroeber's training in West African Ewe drumming with Long's experience in metal bands to make music.
Beware of the Maniacs, the duo's 2006 album, was self-released under the "Dodo Bird" alias. Long and Kroeber toured nonstop for the majority of 2007 in support of the record. The band began to gain critical acclaim and a burgeoning fan following. Fans began calling Dodo Bird "The Dodos," and the band decided to change their name to reflect this.
