The Atomic Bitchwax Information
New Jersey's The Atomic Bitchwax is an American stoner rock band that started in 1992 with bassist/singer/songwriter Chris Kosnik, guitarist Ed Mundell, and drummer Keith Ackerman. When they finally signed with Tee Pee Records in 1999, they released their first full-length record. Their style combines psychedelic rock from the '60s and riff rock from the '70s with contemporary progressive rock, and their music has been featured on TV shows like Jackass and Homewrecker, as well as in Fox Sports broadcasts.
The band's original lineup eventually settled into a local jam band scene in the New Jersey and New York region. This lineup has issued two albums, the first being 1999's self-titled debut and the second being 2000's Atomic Bitchwax II. In 2002, under the MeteorCity label, they also dropped the Spit Blood EP. In 2004, Mundell was succeeded by guitarist/vocalist Finn Ryan because he needed help to keep up with the band's rigorous touring schedule. (formerly of Core). After nine studio albums and over 1,500 live shows later, the ensemble has achieved considerable success. Jack Endino was the producer for their 2006 EP Boxriff.
Monster Magnet's current drummer, Bob Pantella, joined the group in 2007, and their record TAB4 came out the following year. One 42-minute track containing 50 riffs was published as their 2011 album The Local Fuzz. The band traveled extensively over the subsequent years. In 2013, Kosnik expanded his musical horizons beyond his work with The Atomic Bitchwax by joining the ranks of Monster Magnet.
