Mike Silverman is an American musician who is based in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is better known as That 1 Guy and records and frequently performs as a one-person band. Silverman sings a wide variety of music while using many different homemade musical instruments. He is trained classically to play the double bass and developed his musical career in the progressive jazz scene performing live and in a studio.
Silverman has been developing his career as a one-person band for years under his stage name That 1 Guy. He played his upright bass and then started beatboxing while playing his Magic Pipe, musical saw, and various other musical elements. Many legendary artists have influenced him throughout his time in the music industry, such as Dr. Seuss, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Rush, and Drums and Tuba.
Silverman has performed at major music and entertainment festivals such as Woodford Folk Festival, Pyramid Rock Festival, and Woodford Folk Festival. Silverman has been on many shows alongside avant-garde guitarist Buckethead, with whom he released a collaborative album in 2008 under the name Frankenstein Brothers.
In 2007, Silverman released his first and only DVD entitled “Live in the Land of Oz.” Other notable studio albums that he has released so far include Let’s Hear That 1 Guy, Songs in the Key of Beotch, Mustaches Remix EP, Packs a Wallop!, The Moon Is Disgusting, Poseidon’s Deep Water Adventure Friends, and Set the Controls for the Heart of the Buttnoggin.
