Taking Back Sunday Information
Taking Back Sunday is a Long Island, New York-based American rock ensemble. Bassist Jesse Lacey and guitarist Eddie Reyes founded the group in 1999. Shaun Cooper (bass guitar), Mark O'Connell (drums), Adam Lazzara (lead vocals), and John Nolan (lead guitar, keyboards, vocals) make up the current lineup of the band.
1999 saw Lacey leave Taking Back Sunday, and in 2000, she started the rock group Brand New, with whom Taking Back Sunday would later get into a widely reported dispute. Lazzara took over as the band's original lead singer before Tell All Your Friends, their 2002 first album, was released.
The first song, "MakeDamnSure," from the band's 2006 breakthrough album Louder Now, sold over 900,000 copies and reached No. 2 on the US Billboard 200, surpassing the band's previous peak from Where You Want to Be in 2004 at No. 3.
The band released their seventh album in 2016, Tidal Wave. Seven years later, in 2023, they released their eighth album, 152. In 2018, when Tidal Wave was released, Reyes departed the band.
In 2022, the band returned on the road, including shows in the UK with Alkaline Trio and North America as a support act for My Chemical Romance. In honor of its 20th anniversary, the group also reissued Tell All Your Friends in 2022.
