Styx Information
Styx is an American rock band that formed in 1972 in Chicago with their hit album The Grand Illusion, released in 1977. That record included the song “Come Sail Away,” one of their most famous tracks. Their sound mixed classic rock with big melodies, powerful vocals, and rich keyboard parts. They blended hard guitar riffs with soft piano and dramatic lyrics. Styx had a style that felt both epic and catchy, and it helped them reach fans all over the world.
The band started in Chicago and released their first albums in the early 1970s. As the years went on, they kept growing. Albums like Pieces of Eight (1978) and Paradise Theatre (1981) gave them more hits, including “Renegade,” “Blue Collar Man,” and “The Best of Times.” They became known for putting on big live shows with strong vocals and harmonies. The group underwent some changes over time but always kept that classic Styx sound. Fans stayed loyal because the band never stopped bringing energy and heart to their music.
In 2025, Styx is back on the road for the Renegades & Juke Box Heroes Tour with Foreigner. The tour kicked off in June and will hit U.S. cities all summer. The band plays all the favorites, from “Mr. Roboto” to “Too Much Time on My Hands.” This year’s shows also feature special guest John Waite. Even after all these years, Styx is still rocking the stage and giving fans the music they love, live and loud.
