Stryper Information
Stryper is a Christian metal band from Orange County, California. This is the band's lineup with Michael Sweet on lead vocals and guitar, Oz Fox on guitar, Perry Richardson on bass guitar, and Robert Sweet on drums.
Originally formed in 1983 under the moniker Roxx Regime, the band quickly changed their name to Stryper and shifted their musical message to match their Christian views. They broke through to the public as the first openly Christian heavy metal band.
They made their breakthrough in 1983 with the publication of The Yellow and Black Attack, their debut album on the big label Enigma Records. After the release of their platinum-selling album To Hell with the Devil in the mid-1980s, Stryper entered their most successful phase. Before breaking up in 1993, Stryper had two additional gold records.
Stryper announced their return to the spotlight in 2003 with a reunion tour and later, in 2005, inked a multi-album deal with Big3 Records. Second Coming, which has fourteen re-recorded songs from their first three albums, was released after they inked a multi-album agreement with Frontiers Records in 2013.
Even the Devil Believes, the band's upcoming album, was released on September 4, 2020. With its announcement on September 22, 2022, and release on October 21, 2022, the band's most recent album, The Final Battle, came out in April 2023.
