Sticky Fingers' band hails from New York and California, playing original music and tributes to The Rolling Stones. After singer Glen Carroll served in the military in 1989, he created the group. Multiple members have used Sticky Fingers during both live performances and recording sessions. The band members have played with or are fans of The Rolling Stones. "Going through several vocalists a month" led Carroll to take over lead vocals from his previous position as drummer.
One of Steven Kurutz's works, "Like a Rolling Stone: The Strange Life of a Tribute Band," came out in 2008. It follows Sticky Fingers as they played numerous venues along the route of The Rolling Stones' 2005–2006 tour, with Glen Carroll on the cover. Since Sticky Fingers' members aim to appear and sound like The Rolling Stones, Steven Kurutz classifies them as a tribute band.
