Steven Adler Information
Steven Adler (January 22, 1965) is an American musician. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1983, Adler tried out for a role at the London theater on Sunset Strip. After being rejected from the audition, he and his childhood friend Slash founded the band Road Crew after the Motörhead song "(We Are) The Road Crew." After posting an ad in the paper, they were contacted by bassist Duff McKagan.
Adler joined the then-new band Guns N' Roses in June 1985, shortly after its formation by Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, and members of L.A. Guns Tracii Guns, Ole Beich, and Rob Gardner. When Gardner left on drums, Adler and Slash brought in Duff McKagan (who had joined the Road Crew in March 1985) to round out the lineup. Over 30 million copies of Guns N' Roses' Appetite for Destruction have been sold since its release in July 1987.
Adler was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on April 14, 2012, alongside the rest of the original Guns N' Roses lineup. He was the main attraction at the induction ceremony, which also featured Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum (all current members), Gilby Clarke (a past member), and Myles Kennedy (a collaborator of Slash's). For the 30th anniversary of Appetite for Destruction, guitarist Alex Grossi revealed in 2018 that Adler's Appetite would reform.
