Members of the UK Steely Dan tribute band Simply Dan came together as a collective to pay homage to the band's kaleidoscopic sound in an honest way. Donald Fagen and his band are known for their intricate rhythms and rich harmonies, which the eleven-piece ensemble primarily aims to reproduce. Mark Roadnight (vocals, guitar), Roger Evan (keys), Mark Claydon (drums), Darren Spicer (guitar), and David McLeod (bass) are the original members of the band, which was formed in 2016.
All of the members are very accomplished musicians with extensive international touring, gigging, and songwriting experience. They enjoy playing Steely Dan covers as a group and find it tough to pay homage to the original recordings while simultaneously adding their own unique sound to the songs. The already lush harmonies and tone were further enhanced by adding a four-piece horn section by Simply Dan.
