Aaron Earl Livingston is an American singer, songwriter, and musician known by his stage name Son Little. He is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his music is classified as soul, blues, and rhythm. Livingston began his official career with his debut E.P. entitled Things I Forgot on November 10, 2014, released via Anti-Records. His first studio album came out on October 16, 2015, via the same record label.
According to Livingston, Grizzly Bear's Shields, Paul McCartney's Ram, Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City and Little Dragon's Ritual Union are some of the major inspirations he took for his debut album. Livingston has enjoyed collaborations with The Roots, RJD2, and Mavis Staples, whom he praises highly. According to an interview with Sound of Boston, Mavis Staples is one of his favorite singers.
Two years after his first studio album came out, Son Little released his next album, entitled New Magic, on September 15, 2017. "Blue Magic (Waikiki)" was the first single record released on June 6, 2017. "Demon To The Dark" was the second single in New Magic, released on August 1, 2017. The most recent studio album by Livingston is Aloha (2020). Some of his notable guest appearances can be seen in "Guns Are Drawn" from The Tipping Point (2004) by The Roots, "Right On" from Hurry Up & Wait (2005), "Moments in Sometime" from I Predict a Riot (2007), and "Here's to the World" from Conscious Porn (2010) by Hezekiah.
