Sloppy Seconds is an American Ramones-influenced punk band. The current lineup of the group consists of B.A. (vocals), Ace “Spice” Hardwhere (guitars), Bo’Ba Jam (bass), and Steve Sloppy (drums). The band’s name was derived from the slang term sloppy seconds, which describes the act in which a man has a sexual relationship with another person who already has received another person’s semen in the orifice relevantly. The band was formed in 1984 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Sloppy Seconds gained actual notoriety in the underground punk scene with gritty as well as controversial songs such as “So Fucked Up,” “I Want ’em Dead,” “Jani is a Nazi,” “I Don’t Want to Be a Homosexual,” and “Come Back, Traci.” The band’s lyrics are often controversial and unusual, encompassing getting drunk, being fat, alcohol, comic books, classic television shows, and classic horror movies.
Sloppy Seconds released its debut full-length studio album, Destroyed, in 1989. The album featured parody artwork by Mike Kreffel, who was a fan of the band. Other studio albums released by Sloppy Seconds include Knock Yer Block Off (1993), Live: No Time for Tuning (1996), More Trouble Than They’re Worth (1998), and Endless Bummer (2008). Their notable EPs are The First Seven Inches (1987), Germany EP (1988), Lonely Christmas EP (1992), 12/29/94 EP (1994), and Garbage Days Regurgitated EP (2000).
