Skid Row Information
Skid Row is an American heavy metal band that was formed in Toms River, New Jersey, in 1986. The current lineup of the band consists of Dave Sabo and Scotti Hill (guitarists), Rachel Bolan (bassist), Rob Hammersmith (drummer), and ZP Theart (vocalist). Skid Row released its first two albums; Skid Row in 1989 and Slave to the Grind in 1991. The two albums brought them massive commercial success.
Skid Row’s self-titled debut album, which was released in January 1989, brought immediate success for the group again. It went to a 5x platinum. The band supported their album by opening for Bon Jovi when he was on his New Jersey tour. On August 19, 1989, Skid Row played its first gig in the United Kingdom, where they were supporting Bon Jovi’s outdoor show at Milton Keynes Bowl. The very next day, the group played another successful show in Charing Cross Road at London’s Marquee Club. They were also part of the Moscow Music Peace Festival.
Skid Row returned to the United Kingdom three months later and opened for Motley Crue when they were on their European Dr. Feelgood Tour. The band performed there with Mr. Big. They kept touring and opening for several other groups throughout 1990.
Skid Row recorded their second studio album “Slave to the Grind” and released it in June 1991. The album reached number 1 on the Billboard 200. Other albums that were released by the band during its successful career include Subhuman Race (1995), Thickskin (2003), Revolutions per Minute (2006), 8-Side Ourselves (1992), United World Rebellion: Chapter One (2013), and Rise of the Damnation Army – United World Rebellion: Chapter Two (2014).
