Six60 Information
Six60 is a New Zealand rock and soul band. The current lineup of the group consists of Maltu Walters (vocals and guitar), Marlon Gerbes (synths and samples), Ji Fraser (lead guitar), Chris Mac (bass), and Eli Paewai (drums). The original members of Six60 met while studying at the University of Otago in Dunedin. The band got their name from the number 660 Castle Street on the street where they lived in Dunedin. Their local following grew from Dunedin to Auckland, Waikato, Christchurch, and Wellington, among other student centers around the country.
Their self-titled debut album was published on October 10, 2011, on their label, Massive Entertainment. Tiki Taane produced and mixed the album, which charted at number one in New Zealand and was certified gold within the first week of release. Their first two singles, "Rise Up 2.0" and "Don't Forget Your Roots," charted at #1 and #2 on the RIANZ singles chart, respectively, and were certified double and triple platinum.
The band won five Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards in 2018 and was the most-streamed artist on Spotify in New Zealand. Six60 became the first New Zealand band to perform to a sold-out crowd of 50,000 supporters at the Western Springs Stadium on February 23, 2019.
