Sidewalk Prophets Information
Sidewalk Prophets is a contemporary Christian music band. The group's current lineup consists of Ben Young, Daniel Macal, Cal Joslin, and David Frey. Unbeknownst to them, a group member entered a demo tape they had made into a campus recording contest. As a result, Dave could sing in front of an audience of 20,000 thanks to a chance meeting with Will McGinnis of Audio Adrenaline.
After meeting with a Word Records executive and performing at Lancaster Christian Academy in Smyrna, Tennessee, the band was signed to the label. In addition to Shaun Tomczak on lead guitar, the band includes Cal Joslin on bass and Justin Nace on drums. In January 2014, Tomczak departed the band to devote more time to his family, and Daniel Macal replaced him. Guitarist Chris Jordan and bassist Chris Koboldt are two more ex-members of the band.
With the success of their first Word Records album, These Simple Truths, they were nominated for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year and won the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year, which led to a tour with Jeremy Camp and Audio Adrenaline. "You Can Have Me" and "The Words I Would Say" made it into the top 20.
