Scott Metzger Information
Scott Metzger (October 12, 1977) is an American guitarist. He was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He picked up the guitar in his teenage years. In Lambertville, New Jersey, he was raised. Trey Anastasio of Phish and Tom Marshall, the band's lyricist, overheard him performing in a Princeton, New Jersey, coffee shop in the late 1990s. They encouraged him to join Marshall's newly formed Amfibian, which toured widely and provided Metzger his first exposure to the general public. Scott enrolled in William Paterson University's esteemed jazz program.
He has performed at renowned and historic venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, The Fillmore in San Francisco, Ancienne Belgique, The Blue Note, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and the Capitol Theatre. He has also appeared at festivals worldwide, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Newport Folk Festival, Lockn' Festival, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and Bonar.
He has worked with a variety of musicians, including LaLa Brooks of The Crystals, Phil Lesh, John Scofield, Joe Russo, John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Warren Haynes, Shooter Jennings, Nicole Atkins, Trixie Whitley, Dean Ween, Mark Richler, Circles Around the Sun, the Stanton Moore trio, and Umphrey's McGee. Since the band's start in 2013, Metzger has been a full-time member; he still performs with other musicians.
