Ruben Studdard Information
Ruben Studdard (September 12, 1978) is an American singer and actor born in Frankfurt, West Germany. He became famous after winning American Idol Season 2, and in 2003, His song "Superstar" was up for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the Grammys. Following his success on Idol, Studdard released seven studio albums, the first of which, Soulful, went platinum.
Studdard competed on The Biggest Loser, a weight loss competition show, for the fifteenth season in 2013. Afterward, he joined Verve Records and worked with David Foster, chairman of the label, on Studdard's 2014 sixth studio album, Unconditional Love.
The album's release included a tour with Lalah Hathaway, which garnered positive reviews and marked a return to form. Long likened to R&B legend Luther Vandross, Studdard released a cover album titled Ruben Sings Luther in 2018 and kicked off his Always & Forever tour nationwide.
From 2018 to 2023, Studdard performed over ninety-five events around the US as part of a tour titled "Ruben Sings Luther" to promote his CD. In 2023, Studdard and American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken celebrated the 20th anniversary of their Idol beginnings with a combined tour throughout North America called Twenty The Tour.
The Way I Remember It, Studdard's eighth studio album, was released on October 27, 2023. It was his first album of original music since 2014's Unconditional Love. The album had ten tracks.
