William Shatner (March 22, 1931) is a Canadian actor. He started his acting career in Canadian films and TV shows and went on to guest star in American TV series. He played the role of James Kirk throughout Star Trek: The Original Series, all seven films, and 21 of the 22 episodes of Star Trek: The Animated Series.
Shatner's musical career, which began with the release of his debut album, The Transformed Man, in 1968, is as unique as his acting. He has covered iconic songs like "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by the Beatles, "Mr. Tambourine Man" by Bob Dylan, and "Rocket Man" by Elton John. However, instead of the conventional musical renditions, he recites the lyrics, adding a distinct twist to these classics.
Covers of "Learning to Fly" by Pink Floyd, "Space Oddity" by David Bowie, and "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen were on his third and most popular album, Seeking Major Tom (2011). Shatner took a suborbital flight in a Blue Origin capsule in 2021. He was one of the first 600 people to ever go into space; at 90 years old, he became the oldest person to do so. The overall effect was something he remembered feeling just minutes after takeoff.
