Ron Pope Information
Ronald Michael Pope (July 23, 1983) is an American singer-songwriter who deals in pop and rock genres. Pope was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. Currently, he is based in Nashville. Pope attended East Cobb Middle School and later went to Joseph Wheeler High School. Due to an obsession with Bruce Springsteen, he started playing guitar from a very young age. Later on, Pope went to Rutgers University to play baseball for around two years. He faced a career-ending injury and soon got transferred to New York University to pursue a career in music.
Pope joined a songwriting circle with some of his university fellow students. Soon he was on track and wrote the internet hit “A Drop in the Ocean” in 2007. It collaborated with two of his fellows, Zach Berkman and Paul Hammer. They soon founded a band and named it The District with Chris Kienel, Will Frish, and Mike Clifford. This college band garnered significant success and began touring for two years. At the same time, they recorded three albums entitled The District, Last Call, and District Does Christmas. The band once again reunited in December 2010 and recorded Wellfleet.
Pope independently wrote and released a few albums named Goodbye, Goodnight (2009), Bedroom Demos (2009), Daylight (2008), and Hello, Love (2010). He also performed as a featured up-and-coming artist on MTV’s TRL. Pope released “A Drop in the Ocean” and “I Believe” via the Universal Republic label. Pope was featured on The CW’s Vampire Diaries (season three premiere).
