Rob Leines was born into the military and spent his childhood moving around the country. This habit has stuck with him to this day. To his compositions, he applies the same restless spirit.
After finishing high school, Leines started working as a whitewater raft guide. He became a welder for gas and power companies, and finally, he returned to his nomadic ways to repair turbines in power plants all over the globe. After that, Leines started composing songs with words that discussed his experiences traveling and his affection for the natural world in the South.
Bad Seed is Leines's first full-length record. After that, in 2020, he released a live CD titled Live in Richmond at the National, which featured recordings from a rowdy night when he opened for the band Whiskey Myers.
Blood, Sweat, and Beers is the title of his third studio record. It's a blend of Appalachian rock and roll, honky tonk, country twang, and roadhouse music, and it tells the story of a musician's rise from playing in dive bars to opening for national acts like Dwight Yokum at major events.
