River Whyless Information
River Whyless is an American folk band that was founded in 2012. The band originated from Asheville, North Carolina. The current lineup of the band members includes Ryan O'Keefe on vocals, guitar; Halli Anderson on vocals, violin; Daniel Shearin on vocals, bass, harmonium, and Alex McWalters on drums. All these band members met as students at Appalachian State University. Each of them moved to Asheville, North Carolina, after they graduated. Shearin joined O’Keefe, Anderson, and McWalters in 2012 when the three were already performing in a band. The music of the group is defined as folk.
River Whyless released its first full-length album in 2012, entitled A Stone, A Leaf, An Unfound Door. A self-titled EP followed the album in 2015. In the next year, the band released its second full-length album entitled We All The Light. The album was released via Roll Call Records and combined bluegrass-harmonies with fiddle and guitar as a result of which; a distinctive sound is created.
For the purpose of getting various perspectives while songwriting, River Whyless is famous for changing their environment. The group has written music in a woodshed in Maine as well as a living room studio in Oregon, which was owned by Justin Ringle of the band Horse Feathers. The track "Life Crisis" by River Whyless was used as the episode end-credits music for the FX seriocomedy Better Things on October 19, 2017.
